Strategic Design Solutions (SDS) helps nonprofits and funders improve their performance and impact through strategic, operational, and programmatic support. SDS is a woman-owned consulting firm established in 2014 by Dr. Keisha Smith. Dr. Smith is a results-driven consultant and educator with a passion for designing innovative solutions that empower organizations to create lasting community impact. She leverages her expertise in program evaluation, organizational processes, and strategic planning to help nonprofits and philanthropic organizations thrive.

Dr. Smith’s consulting philosophy is rooted in her extensive background in education, K-12 policy, and workforce development. Her work focuses on addressing complex challenges through collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and stakeholder engagement. SDS has spearheaded projects ranging from program evaluations and curriculum development to landscape analyses and organizational audits.​
​With a PhD in Educational Leadership and Research from Louisiana State University and over two decades of professional experience, Dr. Smith combines academic rigor with practical insights. Her ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively has made her a sought-after partner for organizations striving to enhance their programs and processes.

Under her leadership, the organization has successfully executed projects such as program evaluations, organizational audits, and the development of comprehensive strategies to enhance operational efficiency. Some of her accomplishments include: designing and managing multi-year initiatives addressing educational equity, workforce readiness, and parent & community engagement; collaborating with diverse stakeholders to advocate for educational policies; and providing tailored recommendations that improve systems and outcomes. Dr. Smith also excels in fostering cross-sector partnerships, having designed and facilitated advocacy campaigns and coalition-building efforts that align diverse organizational goals for collective impact.

Dr. Smith’s work is deeply influenced by her commitment to educational equity and her lived experience growing up in New Orleans. She has dedicated her career to dismantling barriers to opportunity, ensuring that all communities have access to quality education and workforce pathways. She has served on multiple nonprofit boards, provided mentorship through teaching and research, and contributed to community initiatives as a judge for the Scripps National Spelling Bee and other local organizations.

In her downtime, Dr. Smith enjoys yoga, reading, and spending time with her family and two dogs.
